Sharon SEPAC Kicks off the First Community Coffee at Sharon Public Library!

October 16, 2015

This morning 25 caregivers met at the Sharon Public Library to network and discuss thier personal journey with learning differences and disability. It was a wonderful morning that clearly demonstrated the need and desire to connect around these topics of learning differences and special education. We were joined by the SPS Director of Student Services, Astrid Mazariegos, for a meet and greet and community conversation!

Astrid described some of the process and procedures for accessing 504 and IEP's and defined other words in the air like DCAP (note: the SPS DCAP is currently being developed and spearheaded by Dr. Joel Jocelyn, Asst Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction) and Mass Pac and DESE. She also introduced new members of the student support team across the schools and shared some of her past experience and vision for her time in the SPS community!

Such an amazing turnout and great way to start this beautiful day! Let's keep up the momentum! Together we have a strong voice for awareness and change in our community and beyond! BUILDING BRIDGES TOGETHER. Next event is coming up October 23 - Financial Planning!
